Fatality Accident at 5100 Sunbeam

Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of Sunbeam and Jutland about 5:55 p.m. on Saturday (August 2).

The victim, identified as Alfred Swift, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L.H. Lefler and Officer T. Cox reported:

Mr. Swift was driving a silver Pontiac Sunfire west on Sunbeam, approached the stop sign at the intersection of Jutland, and failed to yield the right-of-way to a black Chevrolet Avalanche traveling south on Jutland. The two vehicles collided and came to rest in a nearby drainage ditch. The occupants of the Avalanche, a male driver and female passenger, were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
