OSP Arrests Driver Involved in April 20th Sherman County Fatal Traffic Crash
A Dalles-area woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Oregon State Police (OSP) on criminal and traffic charges related to an April 20th fatal traffic crash near Grass Valley in Sherman County. The arrest is an example of what law enforcement agencies around the country work to prevent every day and will be a main focus during the Fourth of July holiday period national "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit, Under Arrest" enforcement blitz, July 3 – 6.
On July 1, 2008, OSP arrested Tina Marie Ford, age 42, from The Dalles, on a Sherman County Circuit Court warrant charging Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and Reckless Driving. She was lodged at the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility (NORCOR).
Ford was indicted by a Sherman County grand jury following an investigation by Sherman County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of OSP. She was the driver of a vehicle involved in a single vehicle rollover crash on Finnegan Road south of Grass Valley that killed a 57-year old Moro man and injured five others.
Dangerous driving – especially that involving impaired drivers – will be in the sights of Oregon police officers this extended holiday weekend. The Fourth of July holiday period is the deadliest holiday period of the year, and half of Oregon's fatalities during this time were in alcohol-involved crashes.
