Suspect Charged with DWI after Crash with Police Car
A Garland Police Officer is home recovering after being released from the hospital following a wreck he was involved in overnight. Just after 11:15 pm last night the officer was responding to a call for service when a P/U ran the flashing red light for Glenbrook Drive at W. Ave B. The officer was traveling on Ave B in his marked squad car and collided with the P/U in the intersection.
A man, his wife and son arrived at the wreck scene moments after the wreck. They saw a man standing outside of the P/U and as they drove up he started running away from the scene. They called 911 to report the wreck and started following the man as he continued to run away. They followed the man until police arrived and took him into custody.
The man who ran from the scene was identified as 30 year old Enrique Cordova who was also identified as the driver of the P/U. There was a passenger riding with Cordova who was also transported to the hospital and later released. Enrique Cordova is currently in the Garland Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Fail to Stop and Render Aid. Bond has been set at $5,500 on the two cases.
