Thanksgiving really is a special time to be thankful for great families, fortunate events, caring friends, amazing communities, and all the gifts of life we’re all lucky to have. Perspective in life is important. Maybe not everything in our lives is perfect. Let’s face it – life is always a challenge. Just when you think you have figured life out, life throws you another curve. However, look around you. We have an amazing country that people endure dangers and difficulty just to get here. A country with opportunities most people can’t even dream of. So many in the world don’t have houses to live in, clean water, safe and plentiful food, cars to drive as well as many other things that we take for granted. We tend to bash big corporations like Wal-Mart, but we have family in Europe that would love to have a store they can walk into and buy almost anything they need at an affordable price. We are truly a country of abundance.
You know that lethargic, sleepy feeling after filling yourself with food portions this time of year? At any other time of year would be extremely ill-advised? Yeah? Everybody knows that liberating feeling of tossing the diet plans into the wind for a few days a year and eating more during appetizers than you usually do in a full day. It might come back to bite you in a day or two, but today is Thanksgiving, darn it, and unlimited food consumption is the best way to celebrate. With so many in the world not knowing where they will get even a decent meal to eat, be thankful for all the abundance we have.
So, this year give thanks for all the little things in our everyday lives. It can make you happier, healthier, and more productive.
God Bless you and Your Family this Thanksgiving season and into Christmas and the New Year!
The Raub Family!
